Job summary

Displate is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team in Warsaw. You will ship features for a global e‑commerce product, work across the stack with Java, PHP, and Next.js, and leverage AI coding tools while staying responsible for production readiness.

You’ll be mentored by experienced engineers, collaborate with product managers and designers, and grow your skills in a fast-paced environment with autonomy. English proficiency at B2 level is required.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of commercial software development experience.
• Strong understanding of HTTP/REST APIs, SQL, and Git.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding tools.
• Willingness to learn PHP, Java, or Next.js if not used yet.
• English proficiency at B2 level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Build features for displate.com across our stack.
• Work with a large, mature codebase and improve it over time.
• Utilize AI coding agents daily to plan, delegate, review, and test outputs.
• Write tests and review code; own what you ship.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers on real customer problems.
• Investigate and fix production issues.
• Receive regular feedback and code reviews from experienced engineers.

Job description

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join our Engineering Team, grow with us, and help shape what we build next.

At Displate, you won’t spend months on internal tools nobody uses. You’ll ship features for a global e-commerce product that fans and artists love, where independent creators and official brands bring metal posters to walls worldwide. You’ll work across the whole stack, Java, PHP, and Next.js, so you can find what you enjoy most instead of being boxed in on day one. AI is already part of how we build: you’ll plan the change, let coding agents like Claude Code do much of the work, and stay responsible for what reaches production. You won’t be left on your own: experienced engineers will review your code and help you grow, and you’ll work with product managers and designers on real customer problems from the start.

We care more about how you think, communicate, and take ownership than about years on a CV.

What you will do

• Build features for displate.com across our stack
• Work with the team on a large, mature codebase and improve it as you go
• Work with AI coding agents every day: plan the change, delegate, review, and test what they produce
• Write tests and review code; you own what you ship
• Work with product managers and designers on real customer problems
• Help investigate and fix production issues
• Get regular feedback and code reviews from experienced engineers who help you grow

Our stack

• Frontend: Next.js (React, TypeScript)
• Backend services: Java 25 with Micronaut, PHP 8 (Laravel and Symfony)
• Data: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka
• Infrastructure: AWS, Kubernetes, GitLab, New Relic, Kibana
• AI in daily work: Claude Code and AI-supported code review and tests

This isn’t a closed list: we add new tools when they genuinely solve a problem, and good ideas can come from anyone on the team.

What you bring

• 1-2 years of commercial experience building software in at least one part of our stack
• Good understanding of HTTP and REST APIs, SQL, testing and Git, and a basic idea of how CI works
• A hands-on, everyday workflow with AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) that goes beyond autocomplete
• You can explain how you validate AI-generated code, and you understand and stand behind what you shipYou communicate clearly, take ownership of your work, and enjoy solving problems as a team
• You’re comfortable working in an existing system and leave code better than you found it
• Willingness to learn PHP, Java or Next.js if you have not used them yet
• English at B2 level or higher, spoken and written
