Job summary

Alstom in Katowice seeks a software engineer to design, develop and test onboard software for rail systems. You will work with cross-functional teams on control build design, integration and verification across software and hardware domains.

The role covers requirements-driven development, scripting, and cybersecurity basics, with a strong emphasis on architecture, testing and configuration management.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of complex software and hardware architectures and related tools.
• Experience with C# and C/C++ in testing embedded software.
• Understanding of agile software development and traceability methods.
• Familiarity with security concepts (DTLS/TLS) and cryptography basics.

You’ll report to Marcin (Engineering Domain/Metier Group Manager based in Katowice), and work alongside passionate, motivated and dedicated teammates.

You'll positively impact rail control solutions and onboard software systems. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business, taking care of everything design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of software using C#,C/C++, and much more.

You’ll specifically offer support to your colleagues with Control Build design and integration activities.

We’ll look to you for:

• Contributing to the elaboration of the software specification & architecture, in collaboration with the software architect
• Developing software components
• Performing the software components detailed design & coding
• Setting up the software development tool chain
• Specify, design, prepare and perform tests and verifications of his / her deliverables
• Putting software work products under configuration management
• Supporting software / software integration, together with the other software designers
• Supporting hardware / software integration, together with the hardware designers

Essentials:

knowledge and experience in complex software & hardware architectures , associated tools (GIT, EWM, DOORS) C#, C/C++ testing embedded experience.

All About You

• Degree in software development
• Understanding of C#, C/C++ and scripting language like Python/Bash
• Familiarity with Cybersecurity. DTLS, TLS, different type of crythology keys etc.
• Experience in requirements-driven and agile software developments, as well as traceability methods
• Familiarity with object-oriented design paradigms, software modelling and software test methodologies
• Being excited to explore new methods, technologies and tools
• Eagerness to shape our onboard software systems
