Job summary

Alstom in Katowice seeks a System Designer to analyze requirements, design railway control systems, and develop formal models per standards. You will collaborate with many engineering teams and stakeholders to ensure traceability and high-quality documentation.

The role emphasizes safety-oriented design, RAM considerations, and strong communication in an international environment. You will contribute to greener mobility and work on diverse projects.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of Systems Engineering, including System Architecture and System Interfaces.
• Experience with Railway Signalling Systems or ETCS is a strong asset.
• Understanding safety-oriented design principles and RAM requirements.
• Experience in requirements management and specification writing.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Good organizational skills with multi-priority management.
• Attention to detail and quality-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer, project, and stakeholder requirements.
• Design system solutions by reusing existing solutions or developing and adapting new concepts when required.
• Design Railway Control Systems.
• Perform conceptual design activities, including system modelling, design studies, design rationale development, real-time analysis, modelling, and mock-ups to support technical risk mitigation and optimization.
• Develop formal models and system requirements in accordance with applicable standards and design guidelines.
• Create and maintain system documentation, including operational, functional, and technical specifications (OCD, RS, AD, ID, PD).
• Ensure full traceability of requirements throughout the project documentation lifecycle.
• Participate in technical and document reviews.
• Collaborate with end users, technical experts, and project stakeholders.
• Work closely with System Architecture, RAM, Safety, Software, Product Engineering, and Verification & Validation teams to develop system concepts and definitions.

What We’re Looking For
