Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. in Kraków, Poland is seeking a Software Engineer to build and automate Platform Orchestrator and Fleet Orchestrator services. You will help scale cloud operations, lifecycle management, and fleet-wide changes with reliable, observable software.

You will work with engineers, product management, and operations teams to design and implement automated solutions, write tests, and contribute to runbooks and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years of software engineering experience, or a Master's degree with no experience, or equivalent practical experience.
• Basic knowledge of software engineering principles, data structures, APIs, distributed systems, testing practices, and modern software development methodologies.
• Experience with or exposure to at least one general-purpose programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or similar.
• Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure, containers, APIs, CI/CD, or infrastructure automation concepts.
• Familiarity with Git-based development workflows, automated testing, and code review practices.

Responsibilities

• Solves engineering and operational problems related to cloud orchestration and automation.
• Analyzes requirements, validates assumptions, and confirms understanding before coding.
• Establishes working relationships and collaborates with Platform Orchestrator and Fleet Orchestrator teams.
• Works independently or with guidance on small-to-medium features from design through production.
• Applies the full software development lifecycle including testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Participates in design of distributed services, APIs, and workflow automation.
• Develops platform capabilities addressing lifecycle management and fleet-wide changes.
• Writes clean, testable code and maintains unit/integration tests with guidance.
