Job summary

Commerzbank AG in Łódź is seeking a skilled Java Developer to join the Process Platform & Automation team. You will design, build, and maintain scalable web applications using Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-friendly practices.

You will work hybrid from Łódź, participate in Scrum ceremonies, implement RESTful APIs, and apply AI-enabled tooling to improve development efficiency. Familiarity with OpenShift, Docker, and cloud services is a plus.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Java 17+, JEE, Spring with Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger).
• Fluent in English and Polish (minimum B2).
• Familiarity with cloud-native apps and containerization.
• Knowledge of AI tools like GitHub Copilot is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust Java web applications with Spring Boot.
• Build and deploy cloud-native services using containerization technologies (OpenShift, Docker).
• Ensure architectural alignment with modular, microservices and serverless principles.
• Provide API integration with frontend systems and data exchange via REST.
• Guide juniors and contribute to best practices and code quality.
• Participate in Scrum ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Process Platform & Automation (PPA) cluster brings together Commerzbank’s core process automation capabilities to drive process efficiency as a key strategic pillar.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Java Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with expertise in Java, Spring, and a passion for building scalable, efficient, and innovative solutions. Familiarity with frontend technologies, AI tools and an understanding of the agentic approach would also be considered beneficial skills.

Your main tasks are:

• Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure web applications using Java, Spring with Spring Boot.
• Contribute to the design and implementation of cloud‑native applications using containerization technologies (e.g., OpenShift, Docker, Azure Cloud).
• Ensure alignment with architecture principles, including modular design, microservices, and serverless architecture.
• Provide expert support for incident resolution and problem management.
• Provide consultancy and technical guidance to junior team members on development aspects, ensuring adherence to best practices and fostering their professional growth.
• Implement and consume RESTful APIs for seamless integration with frontend systems and data exchange.
• Prepare software builds and release packages for deployment into test and production environments.
• Leverage AI tools such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, testing, debugging and improving productivity.
• Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies like sprint planning, retrospectives, and other continuous improvement initiatives.

Nice to Have:

• Actively explore and evaluate AI tools and technologies to identify opportunities for optimizing development processes and improving efficiency.
• Build responsive and user‑friendly interfaces using JavaScript, TypeScript and React.
• Experience with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, React.
• SQL.
