Job summary

The International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw invites applications for the position of Head of Flow Cytometry and Cell Models Core Facility. The role combines leadership with hands-on wet-lab work to develop new methodologies and upgrade workflows.

We seek an expert in flow cytometry and cell models who can manage daily operations, supervise staff, collaborate across cores, and contribute to cutting-edge research infrastructure.

Qualifications

• PhD in or equivalent by experience.
• Demonstrated scientific achievements in the field of flow cytometry.
• Hands-on experience in advanced flow methods, data analysis, and interpretation including spectral/imaging methods.
• Experience with FlowJo software.
• At least 2 publications or 2 patents/patent applications using flow methods.
• Excellent communication & networking skills, including building and maintaining relationships.
• Flexible mindset and ability to work in a fast-changing environment.
• Deep understanding of core facilities/technological platforms in academic research.
• Excellent English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the core facility ensuring services are on time and compliant.
• Provide expert services for internal users and external clients as needs arise.
• Supervise flow cytometers and sorters, perform maintenance and quality tests, manage contracts.
• Lead a small team of technology specialists, hire and onboard new staff.
• Support issue resolution and ensure quality control measures.
• Implement new methodologies and design improved workflows.
• Collaborate with Genome Engineering, Microscopy, Genomics to build pipelines.
• Keep up with trends and propose technological upgrades.
• Manage facility finances and budgeting.
• Develop cell model generation services (knock-outs/ins) and write scientific documents.
