Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Poland is seeking a Global Supplier Development Engineer to lead supplier qualification, audits, and development initiatives within the Transformers business unit.

You will drive continuous improvement, manage parts approvals, monitor supplier performance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality, cost, and on-time delivery across a global supply base. Some travel internationally is required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in quality assurance and supplier development in metal fabrication, welding, machining, transformer components or similar industries.
• Knowledge of heat treatment and surface protection processes (galvanization, painting, E-coating, etc.).
• Familiarity with ISO-9001, IATF16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001; external auditor certification is a plus.
• Welding/IWE–IWI or NDT certifications are strong advantages.
• Understanding of ISO 3834, EN 1090, welding standards and QA levels, plus NDT standards.
• Experience with APQP/PPAP, PFMEA, Process Control Plan and inspection test plans.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with data-driven decision making.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, with strong organization and communication.
• Willingness to travel internationally for supplier assessments and audits.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier qualification via SAP Ariba assessments and global on-site audits.
• Implement improvement actions at suppliers based on audits and process gaps.
• Oversee global parts approval to ensure materials meet requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance indicators and conduct annual evaluations.
• Develop action plans for supplier performance recovery with corrective actions.
• Lead root cause analysis for escalated non-conformities with suppliers.
• Drive continuous improvement in global supplier management processes.
• Support sustainability initiatives aligning with material and supplier goals.
