Job summary

Wilhelmsen's Global Shared Service Center in Szczecin is seeking an experienced GL Team Leader to drive end-to-end accounting processes, ensure accuracy and compliance, and lead a high-performing team in a hybrid work model.

The role demands 8+ years in SSC/BPO accounting, 3+ years in team leadership, and a strong grasp of GL processes, controls, and process improvements. English language daily usage and collaboration with international stakeholders are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of accounting experience in SSC/BPO.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Team Leader/Coordinator/Senior.
• Education related to economics, finance, or accountancy.
• Excellent understanding of GL processes and ability to improve them.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end GL processes and service delivery, set team goals, provide feedback, and support recruitment.
• Manage month-end and year-end closings with timely and accurate reporting.
• Lead knowledge transfer and transition projects and onboard processes smoothly.
• Monitor performance, workload, and SLA adherence to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Coach and develop team members through regular 1-to-1s and performance feedback.

Support us with:

• Leading the GL team and taking responsibility for end-to-end processes and service delivery, including setting individual and team goals, providing feedback, conducting performance reviews and supporting recruitment activities


• Managing month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial data are accurate, complete and compliant with Corporate Accounting Guidelines


• Leading knowledge transfer and transition projects from local finance offices while ensuring smooth onboarding of processes and operational continuity


• Monitoring team performance, workload distribution and service delivery against agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs), ensuring high quality and efficiency of operations


• Supporting and developing team members through coaching, regular 1-to-1 meetings, performance feedback and professional development initiatives


• Driving continuous process improvement, standardization and operational excellence by identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness


• Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal stakeholders, providing professional support and ensuring excellent customer service


• Managing issue resolution and escalation processes, proposing solutions to operational challenges and ensuring compliance with company procedures and confidentiality requirements


• Supporting GL Manager in various ad hoc tasks and projects

You will thrive in this role if you have:

• +8 years of accounting experience in SSC/BPO


• At least 3 years of experience as a Team Leader/Coordinator/Senior


• Education related to economics, finance, accountancy


• Excellent understanding of processes in GL and proven ability to constantly improve these processes


• Highly developed problem-solving skills including the ability to resolve issues impacting different interconnected systems;


• Good planning and organizational skills, with ability to adapt to changing environment


• Ability to build good relationships with different stakeholders
