German GAAP GL Accountant — Month-End Specialist

Job summary

GlobalLogic, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to support its German entity’s month-end close, reconciliations, and statutory reporting. You will ensure compliance with German GAAP (HGB) as well as US GAAP reporting requirements, collaborating with outsourced partners and local advisors.

The role requires German and English fluency, strong Excel skills, and experience with ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience, ideally in general ledger, revenue accounting, or financial operations.
• Fluency in German and English, spoken and written, sufficient to manage statutory correspondence and audit interactions.
• Working knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and how it differs from US GAAP.
• Familiarity with German statutory audit requirements and the annual Jahresabschluss process.
• General understanding of German commercial and tax law as it relates to corporate accounting (e.g., VAT/Umsatzsteuer, trade tax/Gewerbesteuer).
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Proficient in Excel and able to work with large data sets.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Month-End Close: Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, revenue entries, and expense adjustments.
• Reconciliation & Reporting: Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned German entity accounts.
• German Statutory Compliance: Support preparation of statutory financial statements (Jahresabschluss) and assist with statutory audit requests.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Finance, Revenue Operations, and outsourced accounting partners.
• Ad Hoc Support: Assist Senior General Ledger Accountant with reporting, financial analysis, and special projects.
