Job summary

Aptiv is seeking a skilled optical engineer to design and optimize optical systems for vision applications. You will develop specifications, perform simulations, and validate performance in a modern laboratory environment.

You will collaborate with customers and suppliers, contribute to test methodologies, and support both validation and production activities in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Physics, Optics or Photonics or similar.
• Familiarity with optics, radiometry, photometry.
• Experience in design of optical components and/or systems.
• Knowledge of aberrations of optical systems.
• Experience with ray-trace software LightTools, Zemax, Imatest.
• Experience with Python, Matlab, or C++ is a plus.
• Good English verbal and written skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design of optical systems for vision solutions.
• Prepare optical system specifications and perform light simulations.
• Conduct radiometric and photometric measurements in an optical lab.
• Evaluate vision system performance and create testing methodologies.
• Support product design development, including optomechanical elements.

Your Role

• Develop and design of optical systems for vision solutions
• Preparation of optical systems specifications
• Light simulations
• Radiometric and photometric measurements at modern optical laboratory
• Evaluate vision system performance
• Create testing methodology and tools development for optical purposes
• Support product design development, including construction of optomechanical and illuminated elements
• Review customer specifications and document requirements
• Support at validation tests as well as production process
• Design of light source focusing elements for camera systems
• Technical problem solving and design optimalization
• Contact with customers and suppliers

Your Background

• Master Degree in Physics, Optics or Photonics or similar
• Familiarity with optics, radiometry, photometry
• Experience in design of optical components and/or systems
• Knowledge of the aberrations of optical systems
• Experience with ray trace analysis software : (LightTools, Zemax, Imatest)
• Experience with Python, Matlab, C++ is a plus
• Good verbal and written communication skills (English)
