Job summary

Bakkt is seeking a hands‑on Head of Risk to own the complete risk lifecycle in our fast‑growing crypto‑fintech environment. You will build and operate the ERM framework, risk registers, and control designs, partnering with First Line and senior leadership to ensure regulatory alignment and proactive mitigation.

You will drive risk assessments across crypto, custody, and digital asset domains, while leveraging AI to scale monitoring, reporting, and remediation efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law or related field is required.
• 7–10 years of progressive, hands‑on experience in enterprise risk management, internal audit, or compliance.
• Experience designing risk frameworks, performing risk assessments, and executing Second Line monitoring.
• Experience working in a regulated financial or digital asset environment; familiarity with NYDFS/SEC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and continuously improve the Enterprise Risk Management framework, risk taxonomy, risk registers, and risk appetite statements for digital assets and regulated financial services.
• Oversee and drive risk mitigation related to counterparty exposure and market/operational risk, providing Second Line challenge to First Line owners.
• Conduct enterprise‑wide risk assessments across financial, operational, strategic, and technological domains including crypto risks.
• Oversee remediation actions tied to audits, regulatory exams, and self‑identified issues; track progress to closure and report to leadership.
• Lead change management for ERM transformations and coordinate risk strategies across Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Technology.
• Leverage AI and automation to accelerate risk assessments, controls validation, issue tracking, and reporting.
