Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Regional Controller to execute the operational vision and strategy.
• Attract, retain and develop statutory compliance and tax accountants into core areas of responsibilities; lead the group.
• Lead cross-functional finance initiatives to optimize processes and service delivery.
• Oversee budgets of service engagements and statutory audits across multiple European countries.
• Own statutory compliance calendar and ensure deadlines for financial statements, audits and taxes are met.
• Coordinate training and knowledge sharing on statutory compliance regulations.

Guardian is looking for motivated European Statutory and Tax Compliance Senior Manager with a passion for statutory compliance and eager to lead a group of specialists.

This position is responsible for the strategy and leading the EU Statutory and Tax Compliance group, overseeing multiple legal entities in Europe.

The role is based in Katowice, Poland and follows a hybrid working arrangement of four days per week in the office and one day working from home. Working models may vary on business needs.

What You Will Do

• Work closely with the Regional Controller to execute the operational vision and strategy.
• Attract, retain and develop statutory compliance and tax accountants into core areas of responsibilities; Be a critical player into advancing the culture and finance vision for the group.
• Work cross-functionally with different finance capabilities to execute the strategy and lead a robust EU statutory and tax compliance group, seek to optimize processes and service delivery model; Define and maintain value driving KPIs for your group.
• Partner, coordinate and oversee the budgets of the service engagements with external providers to fulfill the periodical reporting requirements: group and statutory audits, VAT/CIT/TP returns across multiple countries in Europe: Poland, Germany, UK, Luxembourg, Spain etc.
• Own the statutory compliance calendar and internally keep the team accountable to critical statutory deadlines for various reporting needs (financial statements, audit, taxes, statistics etc.)
• Conduct trainings and seek knowledge for you and your team in terms of statutory compliance regulation (new VAT rules, new reporting regulation etc.).
• Partner with business and extended finance group to proactively communicate and plan the statutory compliance activities impacting other capabilities.
• Actively be part of the steering committee during tax audits or high value transactions impacting the statutory financial statements or tax positions (business restructures and special projects).
• Leverage your groups knowledge to support the business into fulfilling specific reporting related to manufacturing activity (energy related reporting: energy tax; electro-intensive certificate; support application for subsidies etc.).
• Act as finance consultant for cross functional capabilities. Ensure seamless connectivity between business and statutory compliance activities, support the business into seeking the knowledge in terms of new reporting requirements.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
• Proven experience in local accounting in multinational environment.
• Previous experience in leadership / people management.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills – the role will require regular interaction with the leadership team.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong level of Excel skills.

What Will Put You Ahead

• Experience in working with multiple legal entities under different legal umbrellas, strong knowledge and understanding of USGAAP.
• Audit background is an advantage.
• Other European language is a plus.
