Job summary

Tylko is seeking a capable Engineering Team Leader (Python) to head its Backoffice Engineering Team in Warsaw. You will own architecture, mentor engineers, and drive ERP implementation across core internal systems supporting logistics, accounting, and BI.

You will lead initiatives on reliability, observability, and security while embedding AI-driven automation to improve efficiency. The role requires strong Python/Django skills and strong English/Polish communication.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading a backend engineering team.
• Expert-level Python & Django; set standards across the codebase.
• Strong system design and API architecture skills.
• Experience with observability, monitoring and incident response.
• Understanding ERP platforms and backend integrations.
• Security/compliance practices for financial or operational data.
• CI/CD and DevOps with Docker, Linux and GCP.
• Fluent Polish and good English; Warsaw office 3 days a week.

About the Role

We're looking for a strong Engineering Team Leader (Python) to join our Backoffice Engineering Team responsible for the internal systems that keep Tylko's operations running.

The Backoffice Engineering Team builds and maintains the internal systems that power Tylko's core operations — logistics, warehouse management, accounting, customer support, and business intelligence. The team's mission is to automate operational workflows so the business can scale without proportional headcount growth. Over the next two years, the team will drive the implementation of an ERP system (starting with the accounting domain) and embed AI-driven automation across internal processes. The team is composed of Python developers and works in close partnership with the business functions that depend on what they build.

What You’ll Do

• Own the technical quality and architecture of the systems the team builds, setting the bar, making the hard calls, and ensuring decisions are well documented and consistently applied

• Lead and develop the team through regular 1-on-1s, clear growth paths, and a culture of genuine ownership that doesn't bottleneck on you

• Drive ERP implementation by integrating modules seamlessly into existing backend systems and ensuring the solution is stable, secure, and easy to evolve

• Act as the technical voice in cross-functional planning, surfacing constraints, risks, and trade-offs to business stakeholders before commitments are made

• Own system reliability and observability, including monitoring, alerting, the on-call process, and postmortems that lead to meaningful improvements

• Embed AI and automation into the team's work by identifying opportunities across significant initiatives and delivering measurable efficiency gains

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience leading a backend engineering team — setting technical direction, growing engineers, and being accountable for delivery, not just contributing as an IC

• Expert-level Python & Django — able to review, guide, and set standards across the team's codebase

• Strong system design and API architecture skills — experience making architecture decisions stick across a team

• Experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, and incident response for backend systems

• Understanding of ERP platforms and how they integrate with backend systems

• Awareness of security and compliance practices for systems handling financial or operational data

• CI/CD and DevOps fundamentals — comfortable with Docker, Linux, GCP; able to work effectively with the Platform team

• Fluent Polish and good command of English

• Working in our Warsaw office 3 days a week
