Job summary

Grafton is seeking a Development Manager to lead a dispersed team of Software Architects & DevOps working on a cloud SaaS platform. You will drive architecture decisions, backlogs, and delivery across international squads.

You will collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders, mentor senior engineers, and ensure reliability and production readiness while promoting engineering standards.

Job description

Our Client - a British product-based company is currently looking for a talented Development Manager to lead the dispersed team of Architects & DevOps working on cloud SaaS business platform.

In this role you will:

• Lead the international team of 8 - experienced Software Architects & DevOps Engineers working on Enterprise Architecture platform,
• Support the performance, engagement and career development of the team,
• Own backlog prioritization and roadmap decisions for both squads within the agreed technology strategy,
• Translate strategic goals into clear priorities, outcomes and delivery plans,
• Work closely with Product Managers, Development Managers and senior Engineering leaders to coordinate priorities,
• Ensure architectural priorities are understood and connected to wider engineering needs,
• Provide informed challenge on technical proposals and trade-offs,
• Support consistent engineering standards and improved technical decision-making across squads,
• Enable engineering teams to build, deploy and monitor their own applications,
• Provide leadership for production operations, reliability and incident management,
• Represent Architecture and DevOps in relevant engineering forums.

Requirements:

• Experience managing software engineering teams working on software architecture,
• Experience leading and developing experienced technical professionals,
• A background in software development or software architecture (ideally with prior background in MS stack),
• Sound judgement in software architecture and technical design,
• Experience owning or managing priorities, roadmaps, dependencies and delivery risks,
• The ability to lead teams responsible for DevOps, cloud operations, reliability or production support,
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders,
• Experience working with distributed or international teams,
• Fluency in English, as the working language of the team and wider organisation.
