Job description

ATMOS Works is seeking an Electrical Engineer (m/f/d) to own the design and integration of our platform’s power systems, avionics architectures, and sensor payloads. You will work across the full development cycle, from schematic capture and PCB layout through to lab bring-up, system integration, and field-proven reliability.

Key responsibilities
  • Electronic Design & PCB Development
    • You will design and develop electronic schematics and PCB layouts for power management, motor control, sensor interfaces, and communication systems.
    • You will select and qualify components, manage BOMs, and ensure supply chain robustness for critical electronics.
    • You will perform design reviews and DFM/DFT analyses, and oversee first article builds with EMS partners.
    • You will maintain complete design documentation, including schematics, layout files, test specifications, and revision histories.
  • System Integration & Verification
    • You will integrate and verify avionics, power distribution, propulsion electronics, and payload interfaces at system level.
    • You will define and execute electrical acceptance test procedures, including EMC pre-compliance, thermal characterisation, and power budget validation.
    • You will diagnose and resolve hardware anomalies from lab testing and field returns and drive root cause analysis.
    • You will ensure designs meet applicable safety and EMC standards, such as EN/IEC and DO-160.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • You will work closely with Mechanical Engineering on connector selection, cable routing, thermal management, and electromechanical integration.
    • You will collaborate with Software Engineering on firmware interface definitions, bootloader requirements, and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
    • You will support the Field Test team in diagnosing electrical faults and qualifying hardware changes in the field.
    • You will contribute to platform roadmap discussions with input on technology trends in power electronics and embedded sensing.
Profile required
  • Completed degree, B.Sc. or higher, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a comparable field.
  • Hands-on experience with schematic capture and PCB layout tools, such as Altium Designer, KiCad, or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of power electronics, motor control, including BLDC/PMSM, and battery management systems.
  • Proficiency with lab instrumentation, including oscilloscopes, power analysers, network analysers, and soldering/rework tools.
  • Experience taking hardware from prototype through to production-ready design.
  • Ability to read and produce clear technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and interface control documents.
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken.
  • *EU nationality is required.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in aerospace, defence, industrial automation, or high-reliability embedded electronics.
  • Knowledge of avionics communication protocols, including CAN, UAVCAN/DroneCAN, MAVLink, RS-422, SPI, and I2C.
  • Familiarity with DO-160 or MIL-STD-461 testing requirements.
  • Background in functional safety design, including IEC 61508 and safety-critical redundancy architectures.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop, HIL, test environments.
  • Embedded firmware development skills, C/C++, for microcontroller bring-up and peripheral driver development.
