Job summary
Runpod, the AI Developer Cloud, seeks a Director of Infrastructure Engineering to lead and scale core cloud, HPC networks, and distributed storage for massive GPU workloads. You will own SRE, global networking, and storage architecture, partnering with Product, Engineering, and GTM leadership to meet enterprise demands.
You will build an engineering culture of ownership, drive capacity forecasting, and craft roadmaps that translate scale challenges into measurable outcomes across a remote-first
Qualifications
- 7+ years leading software, infra, SRE or networking teams
- 8+ years building large-scale distributed systems and bare-metal infra
- Experience with InfiniBand/RoCE, spine-leaf, and WAN routing (BGP)
- Experience with Ceph, Lustre, NVMe-oF or similar storage
- SRE/DevOps culture and IaC (Terraform, Ansible)
- Remote-first leadership across distributed teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management during incidents
- Background check completed
Responsibilities
- Own Core Infrastructure & SRE with multiple teams, defining SLAs/SLOs and incident response
- Architect HPC & global networking, InfiniBand/RoCE, RoCE and GPU training workloads
- Drive storage engine innovation for high IOPS and throughput
- Build a high-output remote-first organization and mentoring of managers
- Translate scale into strategy with PM and product teams
- Improve deployment frequency, MTTR and observability
- Architectural stewardship for bare-metal provisioning and virtualization
- Coordinate with product delivery and platform teams for robust primitives
