Job summary

Commerzbank is seeking a Data Scientist/ AI engineer to support the DocAI+ initiative, scaling automation across 40+ use cases. You will implement AI solutions for automatic document data extraction and classification using Google Document AI and other tools, advising on end-to-end business processes and stakeholder expectations.

The role sits in the Document Lifecycle cluster, driving paperless banking solutions, with a cross-functional agile team and international collaboration.

Qualifications

• Proficient in Python and SQL, with practical ML experience.
• Experience building data-driven AI solutions and deploying models.
• Familiarity with data governance and banking processes is a plus.

Join our team as a Data Scientist!

In this role you will support a strategic Commerzbank initiative DocAI+, to scale operational efficiency across more than 40 automation use cases across the bank. As a Data Scientist/ AI engineer you will implement AI solutions for automatic processing of information from documents, for example data classification, extraction with the help of Google Document AI and other latest AI and agentic tools. To be successful at this role you need to know data science development cycle, be able to advise on end-to-end business processes, clearly communicate with stakeholders and manage their expectations.

As a part of Key Area Group Services Data the mission of the Document Lifecycle cluster is to transform the way documents are used in our organization from the ground up. We enable a paperless bank by providing globally consistent, reliable and compliant solutions for document generation, scanning, electronic transport, archiving and digital document processing. The cluster builds and operates the front-end and archive infrastructure required for efficient handling of bank and client documents and is responsible for a broad application landscape of more than 60 applications.

Your main tasks are:

• Design, develop, test and validate machine learning models for data-driven and analytics-based applications and services.


• Perform data and pipeline analysis to identify issues, support stakeholders and enable better decision-making within AI solutions and the delivery team.


• Work closely with customers and interface partners to understand business challenges, advise on possible solutions and apply technical expertise to improve AI-supported processes.


• Explore new advanced data-driven solutions and assess their potential to improve models, processes and business outcomes.


• Ensure compliance with the bank’s AI governance framework and proactively manage ongoing activities for new guidelines.


• Use approved bank platforms and technologies, including cloud environments, in line with internal standards and governance requirements.


• Collaborate effectively in a cross-functional agile team across business, technology and operations.
