Job summary

Guardian Glass is seeking a Customs Specialist – Europe to manage and optimize import/export activities across European markets. You will ensure compliant, cost-efficient operations and maintain accurate customs data.

The role requires strong knowledge of EU customs regulations, experience with brokers and ERP systems, and the ability to train internal stakeholders on customs requirements. This position collaborates with Supply Chain, Logistics, and Finance teams across Europe.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Customs, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience in customs, import/export, trade compliance, or international logistics.
  • Strong working knowledge of EU customs regulations and import/export processes.
  • Experience with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and/or customs authorities.
  • Good understanding of HS classification, customs valuation, origin, and customs procedures.
  • Experience with ERP, customs, or trade-compliance systems; Infor experience is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both operational and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong English communication skills; additional European languages are an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day import and export customs activities across European countries.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable EU and national customs legislation and procedures.
  • Coordinate customs declarations, documentation, and supporting records with customs brokers and logistics providers.
  • Review and maintain customs data, including HS/commodity classifications, customs valuation, country of origin, and customs procedures.
  • Support the classification of products and maintain accurate customs master data.
  • Monitor customs clearance processes and resolve delays, discrepancies, and compliance issues.
  • Ensure customs documentation is complete, accurate, and retained in accordance with legal and company requirements.
  • Monitor customs duties, import VAT, fees, and other customs-related costs.
  • Support customs audits, inspections, and inquiries from customs authorities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customs processes, reduce costs, and mitigate customs compliance risks.
  • Maintain and improve customs procedures, work instructions, and internal controls.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, Procurement, Sales, and other relevant functions.
  • Monitor changes in EU customs legislation and assess their impact on business operations.
  • Support customs-related projects, including new country launches, supply-chain changes, and implementation of new customs processes or systems.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal stakeholders on customs requirements.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
