BEC Financial Technologies is hiring for a Mainframe Engineer to develop and maintain COBOL-based solutions on IBM z/OS in our Securities Trading team. You will translate business requirements into reliable technical implementations and collaborate with Analysts, Product Owners, and architects in a hybrid office setting in Warsaw.

• Strong experience developing solutions on IBM z/OS.
• Solid COBOL programming skills.
• Experience with CICS and DB2.

• Experience with modern development practices including version control and code review.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Responsabilidades

• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Support knowledge transfer and help build stronger Mainframe competence within the team.
• Participate actively in Agile events and break larger requirements into actionable development activities.

This position is based at our office in Warsaw, Poland, and you will join our Securities Trading team. The area team is in charge of developing products and concepts around Trading and Settlement of Securities within the Wealth Management and Trading Domain, part of the Engineering Platforms division. Tasks related to Sustainable Finance – Customer preference and Target Market, Post Trade harmonization, and Decoupling of Mainframe are a few examples of the upcoming focus areas for the team.

The Mainframe engineer role offers the opportunity to work on impactful financial systems in a collaborative team of three Business Analysts and five Software Developers.

At BEC, we prefer to collaborate often in the office, but we also keep the opportunity to work remotely up to 8 days per month. Your direct manager will be Kamil Szpich.

Primary tasks and responsibilities include:

• Develop and maintain Mainframe solutions supporting the Securities Trading area.

To succeed you will have:

• Strong experience developing solutions on IBM z/OS.
• Solid COBOL programming skills.
• Experience with CICS.
• Experience working with DB2.
• Good understanding of JCL.
• Experience with MQ / Message Queue.
• Experience with modern development practices including version control and code review.
• Ability to analyze complex existing Mainframe applications and understand dependencies between systems.
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)

It’s nice-to-have:

• Familiarity with Git/BitBucket, JIRA, API, Java, Kafka
• Experience in the financial sector
• Problem management skills (e.g., root cause or Pareto analysis)
