Commerzbank is seeking a Cloud Architect specialized in Google Cloud Platform to define scalable, secure, and cost-efficient architectures within a regulated banking environment. You will partner with development, operations and security teams to drive cloud transformation across enterprise applications and data platforms.

The role requires designing landing zones, governance, and infrastructure patterns, with hands-on Terraform and CI/CD expertise.

Qualifications

• Minimum degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
• Proven experience designing enterprise-scale solutions on Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience in positioning BigQuery as a central data platform.
• Strong knowledge of cloud architecture principles, landing zones, security-by-design and cost optimization.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent English communication; banking or finance experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design target-state cloud architectures on GCP, including landing zones, networking, identity, security, observability and integration patterns.
• Provide architectural guidance and governance for application and platform teams, ensuring solutions comply with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
• Define reusable architecture blueprints and reference implementations for infrastructure, deployment automation, resilience, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Drive cloud security architecture, including IAM concepts, segmentation, encryption, secret handling and policy enforcement across GCP services.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across development, operations, security and business teams to support cloud transformation initiatives and continuous improvement.

Join our team as a Cloud Architect - GCP !

About the team:

Our team is part of Cost Processing & Transactions cluster. The cluster provides standard reporting for controlling group costs, processes the accounts payable and travel expense reports, and makes the system landscape available to numerous customers in the CFO department. We are a diverse international team with around 150 employees in Frankfurt, Bremen, Hamburg, Lodz and Prague and have clients in Germany and abroad. We are responsible for around 200 accounting and controlling processes and 45 IT products, from A as accounting to Z like Zet-Visions, and are therefore active in the heart of Commerzbank. With systems created by our team we are meeting demands which cannot be met by “box” products. We develop and maintain applications used in controlling environment (group and segment controlling) which provide planning, analysis and reporting functions. Working close with business we are able to quickly adapt them to current regulations and needs.

To define and govern scalable, secure and resilient Google Cloud Platform architecture standards and target solutions that enable enterprise applications and data platforms to run efficiently in a regulated banking environment, while ensuring alignment with security, compliance, automation and cost-optimization principles.

You will be responsible for:

Which technology & skills are important for us?

• Degreein Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, orcomparable professional experience in cloud architecture.
• Provenexperience designing enterprise-scale solutions on Google Cloud Platform,with strong understanding of networking, IAM, compute, storage and managedservices.
• Experience in positioning BigQuery as a central dataplatform
• Strongknowledge of cloud architecture principles, landing zones,security-by-design, disaster recovery, resilience and cost optimization.
• Hands-onexperience with Infrastructure as Code (preferably Terraform) andfamiliarity with CI/CD, automation and governance frameworks.
• Abilityto translate business and technical requirements into architecturedecisions and communicate effectively with technical and non-technicalstakeholders.
• Verygood English communication skills; experience in regulated environmentssuch as banking or finance is an advantage.
