Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Poland is seeking an experienced Chief Accountant to lead a small team while actively handling day-to-day accounting operations. This hands-on role operates within an international manufacturing environment, demanding proactive, independent performance and strong compliance with local and international standards.

The successful candidate will manage month-end and year-end closings, VAT/tax filings, and statutory financial statements, collaborating with global finance.

Qualifications

• Fluent Polish and professional English (minimum C1).
• Proven experience as Chief Accountant or in a similar role (min. 5 years).
• Strong knowledge of Polish accounting, tax, VAT and commercial law.
• Experience with US GAAP or IFRS in an international company.
• Experience leading accounting teams.
• Availability to work on-site near Wrocław at least 3 days per week.

• Oversee AP, GL, inventory, and intercompany accounting processes.
• Review supplier invoices, expense reports, and journal entries.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses.
• Prepare and review VAT and tax filings.
• Prepare statutory financial statements.
• Support external and tax audits.
• Ensure compliance with Polish Accounting Act, tax regulations, and commercial law.

Requirements
