Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a senior backend engineer to own feature delivery from design to release, expanding federated query and data lake capabilities. The role emphasizes secure, maintainable distributed systems, automated tests, and detailed documentation.

You will collaborate with partners across teams to refine requirements, prototype ideas, and communicate progress while mentoring colleagues and contributing to the product roadmap.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related STEM field, or related discipline with 5+ years of related professional experience; master’s degree with 3+ years, or PhD with no prior professional experience.
• Experience developing backend software in Java or Scala.
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems using OO or functional programming.
• Experience deploying applications on AWS or Azure and using infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates).
• Experience writing automated tests and using version control and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsabilidades

• Own the delivery of features from design through implementation and release, extending federated query and data lake capabilities.
• Build secure, maintainable distributed systems with automated tests and technical documentation.
• Investigate and resolve complex issues during development and in production using root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with engineering and product partners to refine requirements, prototype ideas, and communicate progress and tradeoffs.
• Mentor colleagues, contribute to code reviews, and share knowledge to strengthen engineering practices.
