Job summary

Cisco Systems, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer - Python and Cloud in Kraków to help build and operate Python-based services and cloud-native solutions for our developer platform.

You will work with engineering teams to improve tooling, standards, and release readiness, delivering reliable software at scale. The role emphasizes backend development, cloud familiarity, collaboration across teams, and hands-on testing and documentation to support production environments.

Qualifications

• Solid software engineering fundamentals and professional development experience.
• Proficiency in Python and building maintainable services.
• Experience with backend services, APIs, data pipelines, or internal platforms.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Familiarity with containers, serverless, IaC, or Kubernetes.
• Experience with CI/CD, source control, automated testing, or related engineering infrastructure.
• Understanding of distributed systems and API design.
• Experience writing automated tests and production support.
• Strong debugging and documentation skills.
• Collaborative work across teams.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the full software development lifecycle from requirements to maintenance.
• Design and build reliable backend services, APIs, automation tools, and data pipelines.
• Develop and operate cloud-native solutions.
• Partner with engineering teams to improve shared tooling and standards.
• Contribute to code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical design reviews.
• Improve maintainability, observability, and reliability of team systems.
• Investigate and resolve issues affecting development workflows, pre-prod and production environments.
• Contribute to frameworks and standards for detecting and remediating failures.
• Write automated tests, technical documentation, and runbooks.
• Participate in rotating on-call shifts to diagnose service issues.
