Job summary

Cisco Systems Poland sp. Z o.o. in Kraków is seeking a Software Engineer to contribute to backend services in Python and Go, with opportunities to engage in React-based UI work. You will design, implement, and deliver backend features, maintain the existing stack, and help build reusable components while pursuing performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• Strong motivation to learn, improve technical skills, and grow as a software engineer.
• Knowledge of Python and/or Go, or another modern programming language, plus eagerness to grow in Python and Go as needed. Most of our code base is written in Python.
• Hands-on experience with React or another modern front-end framework is beneficial, especially for junior engineers eager to contribute to front-end technology in a backend-heavy team.
• Understanding of, or willingness to learn, different levels of automated tests, such as unit tests, functional tests, and integration tests.
• Problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

• Participate in the design, implementation, and delivery of long-term-impact software in accordance with requirements and existing system architecture.
• Maintain existing technology stack and debug and fix issues
• Work closely with product management, architects, user experience, and the team to build features, reusable components, and products.
• Build, analyze, and optimize backend services primarily in Python and Go, focusing on simplicity, efficiency, reliability, and performance.
• Contribute to React-based user interfaces and reusable front-end components when opportunities align with your interests and expertise.
• Build your understanding of existing code and use sound judgment to make improvements, seeking guidance when needed.
• Follow the software development lifecycle in an Agile methodology and contribute to a strong engineering culture through testing, observability, and operational excellence.
