Job summary

OBI Smart Technologies in Katowice is seeking a backend engineer to develop and evolve systems powering product and assortment management within a large retail ecosystem. You will build scalable backend services and integrations with Kotlin/Spring Boot, translate business data into reliable solutions, and contribute to event-driven architectures with Kafka, in cloud-native, containerized environments.

Qualifications

Completed university degree in Computer Science or a comparable technical field.
3–5 years of professional backend development experience using Kotlin or Java with Spring Boot.
Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend services, APIs, and integrations using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
Translate business and product data requirements into scalable, maintainable backend solutions.
Contribute to event-driven architectures and asynchronous processing using Kafka.
Support integration of backend systems within cloud-native and containerized environments.
Design and maintain data models and persistence layers using PostgreSQL.
Collaborate with product, business, and engineering teams to refine requirements and deliver features.
Contribute to code quality, testing, observability, and system reliability.
