Job summary

DS Smith is seeking a Cloud Operations Owner (AWS) to lead the operational performance, governance, and continuous improvement of AWS cloud services across Europe. You will partner with internal teams and providers to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing cloud platforms supporting the business.

The role emphasizes service management, incident resolution, and collaboration with Cloud, DevOps, Engineering, and Security teams to drive digital transformation in a global packaging company.

Qualifications

• Experience managing AWS cloud operations in enterprise or managed services.
• Strong knowledge of AWS services: EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch.
• Experience with ITIL-based service management.
• Proven vendor/partner management capability.
• Strong incident, problem, and change management experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation.
• Understanding of cloud security, compliance, and FinOps principles.
• AWS certifications and related cloud qualifications are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary operational contact for AWS services.
• Lead major incident management and drive timely resolution with internal and external partners.
• Monitor and manage service performance against SLAs, KPIs, and targets.
• Drive continual service improvement initiatives and operational excellence programmes.
• Manage governance across incident, change, release, and transition processes.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measures.
• Oversee AWS infrastructure operations across compute, storage, networking, and security services.
• Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with Cloud, DevOps, Engineering, and Security teams to support business priorities.
