Job summary

Hatch in Katowice is seeking a Control and Automation Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group on-site. You will work on designing, programming and commissioning control systems for complex projects in mining, metals and process industries.

The role requires a BSc/BEng in relevant engineering, knowledge of PLCs, DCS preferred, and strong troubleshooting. Fluency in Polish and English is expected; you will collaborate with specialists worldwide and support with safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications

  • BSc/BEng in Electronic / Electrical Engineering, Controls and Automation Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with industrial communication technologies, networking and hardware.
  • Knowledge of automation and instrumentation components and systems.
  • Fundamental knowledge of network technology, servers, virtualization, and redundancy concepts.
  • Knowledge of PLC technology. DCS knowledge is nice to have.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality and customer service.
  • Fluent in Polish and proficient in English.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Control and Automation team on projects and ensure delivery on time and in budget.
  • Design, program and commission control systems for complex projects.
  • Deliver projects within mining, metals, process industries and more.
  • Prepare and review engineering documentation (instrument lists, I/O lists, P&ID, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams).
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and procedures.
  • Prepare Basic and Detail Engineering, procurement, installation of automation components.
  • Create technical specifications and interface descriptions.
  • Support with HAZOPs, SIL calculations and validations.
  • Collaborate with project management and engineering staff to achieve objectives.
  • Adhere to safety and quality policies and procedures.

We are looking currently for Control and Automation Engineerto join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Katowice (on-site).

  • Work with Control and Automation team on projects and ensure delivery of project on time and in budget
  • Have the opportunity to design, program and commission control systems for the world’s most complex projects
  • Have the opportunity to deliver projects within mining, metals, process industries and more
  • Prepare and review of all engineering documentation within discipline (instrument lists, I/O lists, P&ID, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams and others)
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all engineering activities
  • Preparation of Basic and Detail Engineering, procurement, installation of automation components and systems
  • Create technical specifications for automation components, systems and instrumentation
  • Create technical functional descriptions, test specifications and instructions as well as interface descriptions
  • Support with HAZOPs, SIL calculations and validations
  • Collaborate with project management/engineering staff to achieve project objectives
  • Conduct work in accordance with company safety and quality policies and procedures
  • Perform field surveys, when necessary
  • Provide construction support, commissioning and start-up assistance as required
Your background:
  • BSc/BEng in Electronic / Electrical Engineering, Controls and Automation Engineering or equivalent, with a strong interest in industrial process control, automation and computer systems
  • Experience with industrial communication technologies, networking and hardware
  • Knowledge of automation and instrumentation components and systems
  • Fundamental knowledge of network technology, servers, virtualization, and redundancy concepts
  • Knowledge of PLC technology. DCS knowledge is nice to have.
  • Demonstrated strong troubleshooting, analytical, technical problem-solving skills
  • High attention to details, motivation and commitment to quality and customer service
  • Ability to operate effectively and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Open mind and willingness to learn and quickly comprehend new concepts and technologies
  • Ability to work in team environment with team members located locally and around the world
  • Understanding of automation software development and implementation lifecycle
  • Knowledge of Windows, Basic Networking and Databases
  • Fluent in Polish and proficient in English
