Make, a remote-first AI-first engineering agency, is seeking a Backend Engineer to help craft large-scale software foundations using AI-first techniques. You will build and maintain backend services with TypeScript/Node.js, integrate with external APIs, and write clean, well-tested code in a highly autonomous, culture-driven environment.

You will join a team of engineers who value ownership, proactive communication, and the ability to work asynchronously across time zones.

Qualifikationen

• AI-first mindset required.
• Hands-on experience with Cursor, Claude Code or Codex.
• Experience building at least one large-scale system from scratch.
• 7+ years backend experience.
• 2+ years Node.js experience.
• Excellent communication in asynchronous remote environments.
• Proactive ownership mindset.

Aufgaben

• Join a team of AI-first engineers.
• Build and maintain backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.
• Integrate backend functionality with third-party APIs and external data services.
• Write clean, readable, and well-tested code.
• Use AI tools daily to streamline development, debugging, refactoring, and documentation workflows without compromising quality.
• Work closely with other engineers in a remote-first environment, proactively communicating progress, blockers, and risks.
• Identify issues proactively, spotting bugs, performance bottlenecks, or architectural risks early and taking ownership of solutions.
