Hempel invites finance or accounting students to join our international finance team in Gdańsk as an Accountant Trainee. You’ll gain hands-on experience in banking, treasury, and month-end activities while collaborating across global markets.

This paid internship offers flexible hours, a hybrid work model, and a clear path to future employment. You’ll develop analytical skills, work with Excel, and learn SAP, D365 and AX in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Finance/Accounting degree in a related field.
• Typically in year 3 or above.
• Able to work at least 25 hours per week.
• Fluent in English and Polish.
• Strong analytical and logical thinking.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Support daily banking and payment activities across markets.
• Post bank transactions and assist with bank statements.
• Assist with booking GL transactions based on bank data.
• Support posting of corporate card statements and reconciliations.
• Participate in bank reconciliations and month-end closing tasks.
• Help prepare reports, documentation, and audit samples.

As an Accountant Trainee , you will become part of our international finance team and support daily banking and payment-related activities across multiple markets. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in accounting and treasury processes, develop analytical skills, and build a strong foundation for your future career in finance.

In this role, you will:

• Support the processing of outgoing payments in line with internal procedures
• Post bank transactions and support the processing of bank statements
• Assist with booking GL transactions based on bank statement information
• Support the posting of corporate card statements (Eurocard/AMEX)
• Participate in daily bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
• Assist with bank and loan revaluation activities
• Support month-end closing processes and preparation of monthly controls
• Prepare reports, documentation, and audit samples
• Help maintain accurate financial records and support ad hoc tasks within the team
• Collaborate with colleagues across global finance teams and contribute to ongoing process improvements

• Have good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Be proactive and comfortable taking initiative
• Be willing to learn from mistakes and continuously develop your skills
• Communicate openly and effectively with colleagues and stakeholders
• Have excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to work
