Job summary

Hempel in Gdańsk is seeking an Accountant Trainee to join our international finance team. You will support daily banking, bank reconciliations, and GL postings, gaining hands-on experience in accounting and treasury processes while collaborating across global teams.

Ideal candidates are finance/accounting students, able to work 25+ hours weekly, with strong Excel skills, and fluent in English and Polish. The role offers hybrid work, paid internship, and potential long-term cooperation.

Qualifications

• Be pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Ideally be in your 3rd year of studies or above.
• Be available to work at least 25 hours per week.
• Have a good command of both English and Polish.
• Demonstrate strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
• Have good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Be proactive and comfortable taking initiative.
• Be willing to learn from mistakes and continuously develop your skills.
• Communicate openly and effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
• Have excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Support the processing of outgoing payments in line with internal procedures
• Post bank transactions and support the processing of bank statements
• Assist with booking GL transactions based on bank statement information
• Support the posting of corporate card statements (Eurocard/AMEX)
• Participate in daily bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
• Assist with bank and loan revaluation activities
• Support month-end closing processes and preparation of monthly controls
• Prepare reports, documentation, and audit samples
• Help maintain accurate financial records and support ad hoc tasks within the team
• Collaborate with colleagues across global finance teams and contribute to ongoing process improvements
