Job summary

ASTARA Poland Sp. z o.o. is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee the company’s accounting records, tax compliance, and financial reporting in Poland. You will supervise month‑end closes, prepare statutory financial statements, and coordinate with auditors and authorities.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance, has 5+ years of senior accounting experience, fluent English, strong IT skills, and practical VAT/CIT knowledge; SAP experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Taxation, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Accountant or Independent Accountant.
• Practical knowledge of tax regulations and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Organizing, supervising, and ensuring the maintenance of the Company's accounting records in compliance with regulations.
• Preparing and submitting instructions and documents for proper bookkeeping and legal compliance.
• Verifying accounting documents and other financial documents for accuracy and compliance.
• Preparing complete financial statements (balance sheet, P&L, cash flow, equity changes, notes).
• Monitoring changes in tax legislation and adapting accounting policies accordingly.
• Maintaining tax documentation and preparing tax calculations and returns.
• Cooperating with Tax Offices, Customs Authorities, and other institutions; handling audits.
• Organizing audits and cooperating with external auditors; preparing financial statements.
• Ensuring proper collection, storage, and accessibility of accounting records and supporting documents.
• Ensuring timely month-end and year-end closing processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Organizing, supervising, and ensuring the maintenance of the Company's accounting records in compliance with accounting and tax regulations.
• Preparing, updating, and submitting for approval all instructions, documents, and processes necessary for proper bookkeeping and legal compliance.
• Performing formal, legal, and accounting verification of accounting documents and other documents with financial implications.
• Preparing complete financial statements (balance sheet, profit and loss statement, cash flow statement, statement of changes in equity, and notes to the financial statements) in an accurate and timely manner.
• Monitoring changes in tax legislation and adapting accounting policies accordingly.
• Maintaining tax documentation (VAT, CIT, Excise Duty, WHT).
• Preparing tax calculations and tax returns and submitting them within statutory deadlines.
• Recording and reconciling tax settlements.
• Ensuring cooperation with Tax Offices, Customs Authorities, and other institutions, as well as maintaining documentation related to proceedings and audits.
• Organizing audits, cooperating with external auditors, and preparing financial statements.
• Organizing and ensuring the proper collection, use, storage, archiving, and accessibility of accounting records and supporting documents.
• Ensuring timely month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Preparing timely and materially accurate financial reports and statements.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Taxation, or a related field.
• Advanced English language proficiency.
• Advanced computer skills.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Accountant or Independent Accountant.
• Practical knowledge of tax regulations and accounting principles.
• Knowledge of VAT and CIT regulations, as well as the Accounting Act.
• Excellent organizational skills.
