Our client is seeking an Accountant who will manage Poland's day‑to‑day financial operations, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, tax compliance and timely reporting to the Toronto Finance team.
This is a critical role requiring deep knowledge of Polish accounting standards and Polish tax law aswell as the ability to produce IFRS‑aligned reports for the global finance team.
Key Responsibilities;
- Maintain accounting records in accordance with the Polish Accounting Act (UoR) and IFRS for global consolidation purposes.
- Prepare and file tax returns: JPK_VAT, JPK_V7M, CIT-8, PIT-4R, and ZUS DRA declarations.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements: balance sheet, profit and loss account, and cash flow statement.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable: issue invoices, monitor payments, and reconcile accounts.
- Manage fixed assets and calculate depreciation in accordance with Polish tax law.
- Process payroll in collaboration with the accounting firm or HR/payroll system.
- Prepare IFRS-format financial reports for Toronto HQ — monthly and quarterly.
- Manage international payments: SWIFT transfers, currency conversion, and transfer pricing documentation.
- Oversee the financial audit (statutory examination) and liaise with the external auditor.
- Monitor changes in Polish tax law and accounting regulations — brief management on implications.
Required Qualifications;
- 3+ years of experience as an Accountant or independent Accountant in Poland.
- University degree: Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.

- In-depth knowledge of Polish accounting standards (UoR) and tax law (VAT, CIT, PIT)
- Experience preparing and filing JPK_VAT, JPK_V7M, CIT-8, and ZUS DRA declarations
- Proficiency in accounting systems: Comarch ERP, Sage, Symfonia, SAP, or equivalent
- Advanced Excel proficiency — pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial models.
- Fluency in Polish and English.
- Familiarity with the National e‑Invoice System (KSeF) — mandatory from 2025/2026
Preferred Qualifications;
- SKwP certificate (Polish Accounting Association) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
- Experience in a foreign‑owned company or subsidiary of a multinational corporation.
- Knowledge of IFRS for group consolidation purposes.
- Experience with transfer pricing calculations and TP documentation.
