Job summary

Zong 5G in Lahore, Pakistan, is seeking a Maintenance Technician to safeguard our core transmission network and ensure uninterrupted service. The role covers OTN, SDH, and PTN systems, including preventive and corrective maintenance, site inspections, and on-site fault resolution.

Responsibilities include coordinating with Field Operations, compiling monthly site reports, and performing precise connectivity tasks.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensuring core Transmission (OTN & SDH/PTN) network availability and proactive maintenance.
• Executing PM as per plan with site visits and issue escalation.
• Maintain Long Haul optical transmission network (OTN & SDH/PTN) operation and maintenance.
• Perform preventive maintenance of OTN, SDH & PTN equipment including cleaning and connectivity checks.
• Provide monthly reports on sites assigned and issue resolutions with Field Operations teams.
• Analyze and diagnose network hardware/software problems to minimize downtime.
• Ensure 24/7 availability for faults with on-site support and hardware coordination.
• Audit PM work by Technicians and Field teams for quality standards.
• Audit newly installed equipment and resolve quality issues before service cutover.
• Execute connectivity tasks (Patch Cords/Ethernet and Power Cables) for expansion and faults.
• Maintain records of hardware/spares and submit fault reports.

Job description

• Ensuring core Transmission (OTN & SDH/PTN) network availability and taking proactive measures to maintain it.
• Executing PM as per plan, which involves site visits, identification of Site Environmental/ Power related issues and their escalation following standard procedures.
• Operation and Maintenance of Long Haul optical transmission network that includes OTN & SDH/PTN.
• Preventive Maintenance of OTN, SDH & PTN equipment, i.e., equipment cleaning, ensuring quality standards for patch cord laying/physical connectivity, Equipment power & redundancy check.
• Providing monthly reports compilation of all sites assigned and their issue resolution in coordination with Field Operations teams.
• Analyzing, diagnosing, and correcting network hardware and/or software problems associated with the transport network to minimize network downtime.
• Ensuring 24/7 availability in case of faults, which involves Hardware arrangement in coordination with Warehouse, site visit & on-site support for resolution of issues.
• Networking Audit of PM performed by Technicians & Field teams ensuring quality standards.
• Networking Audit of newly installed Equipment and resolution of quality issues before service cutover.
• Executing of connectivity i.e., Patch Cords/Ethernet Cables & Power Cables connectivity, as per standard in case of Expansion and faults.
• Maintaining record of hardware/spares in the region assigned and submission of Faculty Hardware in Warehouse along with Fault Reports.

Eligibility Criteria (Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills):

Education:

• In principle, must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.

Work Experience:

• Preferably a minimum of 1 year of experience.
