Job summary

AkzoNobel in Karachi is seeking a Shipping Officer to manage import/export documentation, customs clearance and logistics between Karachi Port and Lahore Site. You will coordinate with shipping lines, arrange freight, ensure timely clearance, and monitor regulatory compliance while optimizing costs.

The role requires strong analytical abilities and excellent communication. The ideal candidate has at least five years' related experience, plus proven independence and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Arrange all shipping documents to avoid detention/demurrage.
• Clear shipments after receipt of original documents.
• Coordinate with customs and resolve duty changes.
• Arrange freight with shipping lines and forwarders.
• Obtain and manage export documentation and licenses as required.
• Coordinate Exworks shipments and ensure timely loading and clearance.
• Interact with banks for document collection and payments as needed.

• Custom Clearance of Imported Raw Material & Finish Goods
• Arrange Inbound Logistics from Karachi Port to Lahore Site
• Arrangement of Bounded Warehouse.
• RM movement from Bounded Warehouse to Lahore Site.

Export

• Obtain freight charges from shipping line and freight forwarders
• Custom clearance of good exported
• To arrange Dangerous Petroleum storage license
• To Exworks shipments from various parts of the world
• After Impex transition – Documentation/coordination with the vendor
• Shipping Guarantees arrangements
• Collection of Documents from Bank in Karachi

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible to arrange all shipping documents to avoid detention/demurrage.
• Responsible to clear shipments after received of original documents.
• Settle any kind of dispute with Customs.
• Responsible to update management with any duty change and FTA.
• To make sure custom clearance as per local law.
• Responsible to arrange freight of the goods exported
• Responsible to clear the shipments of export
• Responsible to check documentation of export
• To coordinate with shipping line/shipping agent for smooth delivery of the exported goods to port destination.
• To institute and follow up all legal cases with Customs for resolving matters at minimum cost.
• To import Exworks shipments from all over the world. (1- to get the rates form forwarder, 2- coordinate with forwarder and vendor for the availability of the goods, 3- get the custom clearance at Port of loading, 4- arrangement made to load the goods on vessel, 5- get the goods cleared upon arrival in Pakistan)
• To arrange Dangerous Petroleum license from Department of Explosive, Government of Pakistan
• Impex – after transition would be responsible to communicate with the vendor directly and arrange to check the import documents, arrange delivery of the goods.
• To coordinate with the shipping line/agent for the issuance of shipping guarantee and then coordinate with planning/i2p team for the issuance of shipping guarantee.
• Initiative and agreed with Finance to route the documents to Karachi Bank instead of Lahore Bank it will some time and we can get the goods cleared earlier.
