Job summary

RLK invites applications for a Senior Registrar Obstetrics & Gynecology (JP-126) to join the RLMC and AMTH teams in Lahore. The position is permanent and requires 2–3 years of registrar-level experience, MBBS with FCPS in Obstetrics & Gynecology and valid PMDC registration.

The incumbent will manage both inpatient and outpatient obstetric and gynecologic care under the supervision of the consultant. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical, diagnostic and teaching skills and be prepared to

• Experience in teaching and mentoring junior staff is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Ensure detailed examination of the patient, take history, establish provisional diagnosis, initiate treatment and advise investigations.
• Maintain complete patient records with date, time, signs and stamped details.
• Conduct ward rounds and communicate management plans with specialists.
• Oversee in-patient and out-patient care in obstetrics and gynecology under consultant supervision.
• Engage in antenatal care, labour ward coverage, outpatient clinics, theatre sessions and emergency duties.

Job Requirements

Qualification

• MBBS & FCPS in Obstetrics & Gynecology with valid P.M.D.C registration.

Experience

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a Registrar or equivalent in a recognized hospital.
• Strong clinical, diagnostic, and teaching skills.

Job Description

Curative

• Ensure detailed examination of the patient taking history, makes provisional diagnosis,
  starts treatment and advice for relevant investigation.
• Records complete history and other relevant details of the patient in the patient’s chart with
  date, time, signs and affix name stamp.
• Takes complete round of the ward to talk to patients and examines all admitted patients in
  details at least once during duty hours and writes follow up details with date, time, signs and
  affixes name stamp.
• Conducts round of the ward/s with the specialists and apprises the condition of the patients
  and notes down their directions regarding management.
• Discusses urgent matters relating to patient’s management with specialists on telephone.
• Responsible for the in-patient and out-patient management of patients in both Obstetrics
  and Gynaecology Under the direct supervision of the Consultant.
• Shares the responsibility for Antenatal Care, Labour Ward cover, Gynaecological Out-
  Patient Clinics, Theatre sessions and emergency duties.
• Responsibility for administrative duties e.g. review of results of investigations, patient
  records which arise as a consequence of these clinical duties.
• Undertake responsibility for the admissions and day to day care of women admitted /referred to the maternity and gynaecological department under consultant supervision.
• Appropriately deal with obstetrical or gynaecological problems in other areas e.g. the
  Accident and Emergency Department or other wards in the hospital in related cases.
  Preventive / Primitive
• Remains aware of preventive programs launched from time to time by government or other
  health regulatory bodies and guides the patients accordingly.
• Provides guidance and advice on good nutritional practices.
  Rehabilitative
• Facilitates rehabilitation by providing advice to patients keeping in view their Physiotherapy,
  Psychiatric, Psychological, Social and Nutritional needs in such a way that Rehabilitative
  activities can be done at one’s own as far as possible. Refers only those cases for
  physiotherapy which are considered clinically essential.

General

• Remains available during duty hours for his/her routine duties as per duty roster.
• Ensures smooth functioning of the ward assigned to him.
• Observes and supervises the ward staff in the performance of their jobs in accordance with
  the job description and achieves targets set for them.
• Any other professional duty assigned by the in charge.

Infection Control

• The post holder has an important responsibility for and contribution to make to infection
  control and must be familiar with the infection control and hygiene requirements of this role.
• These standards must be strictly complied with at all times.
