AltRider is a US motorcycle accessories manufacturer based in Seattle. We build protection parts and adventure gear for BMW, KTM, Ducati, Honda, Triumph, Yamaha and Kawasaki, and ship from a Seattle warehouse and a third-party warehouse in the Netherlands.
We are hiring one person to make sure we do not run out of stock. That is the core of the job. We carry over 400 SKUs manufactured overseas with long lead times, and every stockout is a lost sale and an unhappy dealer.
This is a planning, tracking and follow-through role. You will not be negotiating contracts on day one — you will be deciding what to order, when, and chasing every open commitment until it lands.
What you will do
- Run a weekly reorder review: work a purchasing dashboard, find every SKU where months-of-cover has fallen below supplier lead time, and decide what needs ordering now
- Check what the factory already owes us on open orders before raising anything new
- Issue purchase orders with the correct quantity, price, drawing revision and packaging instructions
- Chase order acknowledgements and completion dates until you get a date, not a status update
- Keep a project tracker current: PO number, confirmed date, quantity, balance, shipment allocation
- Track shipments in transit, verify vessel ETAs independently, and publish a weekly arrival update to warehouse, customer service and marketing
- Produce a weekly stockout report: every SKU on backorder, out of stock, or forecast to run out, with order status and expected arrival
- Reconcile inventory between our system and our EU warehouse, and drive every variance to an explanation
- Recommend air freight when the cost of a stockout exceeds the cost of the shipment, and put the numbers in front of leadership
- Escalate when a supplier stops responding
What we need from you
- 3–5 years in purchasing, supply chain, inventory planning or merchandise planning
- Strong Google Sheet. This is not optional. You will live in spreadsheets and you should be comfortable building your own — lookups, pivots, conditional logic, and reporting others can read.
- Proven follow-up discipline. You are the kind of person who keeps a list, works it, and does not let an unanswered email die.
- You are willing to make a call. When lead time is 90 days and cover is 70 days, we need a decision, not a question.
- Clear written English. Almost all supplier and internal communication is written.
- Comfortable being the person who says an uncomfortable thing to a supplier in writing
Nice to have
- Experience working with Chinese or other overseas manufacturers
- Familiarity with sea and air freight, consolidators, or customs documentation
