Job summary

The International Rescue Committee in Pakistan is leading a UNICEF-funded nutrition project based in Multan. The Project Manager will oversee implementation, supervision of field teams, and regular reporting to the Program Coordinator to keep activities on track.

About The Position

The International Rescue Committee is initiating a short-term nutrition focused project funded by UNICEF. The project will contribute to improving the nutrition service delivery and outreach in seven districts of Punjab province. The Project Manager will be based in Multan and will report and provide overall support to the Program Coordinator for day-to-day project management of the nutrition program. The role is responsible for implementation management, supervision of all field teams, and regular reporting on project progress. The Project Manager will keep the project on track by ensuring work plans and spending plans are updated, conducting regular check-ins with the team, leading progress reviews, and carrying out field visits.

Major Responsibilities

Project Management and Implementation

  • Provide overall support to the Program Coordinator for management of the nutrition project.
  • Ensure implementation of project activities is on track, in line with approved work plans and timelines.
  • Identify implementation gaps and bottlenecks and propose practical solutions to keep the project on track.

Team Supervision

  • Supervise all field teams, including Nutrition Facilitators, IYCF Counselors, Community Outreach Workers.
  • Conduct regular check ins with field teams to review progress, address challenges, and provide guidance.
  • Organize regular review meetings among field staff for progress updates and experience sharing.
  • Assess training needs of field staff and coordinate relevant training or refresher sessions as needed.

Planning and Monitoring

  • Ensure work plans are updated regularly and reflect actual project progress.
  • Ensure spending plans are updated and tracked against project budget, flagging any deviations to the Program Coordinator.
  • Lead regular progress reviews with the team against project objectives and indicators.
  • Conduct regular field visits to OTP sites and outreach areas to monitor quality of implementation and provide on site support.

Reporting

  • Prepare and submit regular progress reports to the Program Coordinator on project implementation status, achievements, and challenges.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting from field teams is consolidated and shared as required.
  • Support the Program Coordinator in preparing donor or internal reports as needed.

Coordination

  • Coordinate with MEAL and MIS functions to ensure data and monitoring findings are used to inform implementation decisions.
  • Liaise with health facility staff and other stakeholders at field level to support smooth project implementation.
  • Support the Program Coordinator in coordination with other sectoral teams and stakeholders as required.
  • Carry out other relevant tasks assigned by the Program Coordinator.
Key Working Relations

Position Reports to Program Coordinator based in Multan. It directly supervises Field Teams, including Nutrition Facilitators, IYCF Counselors, Community Outreach Workers, in Multan and provide oversight to field teams in the remaining project districts through respective Program Officers. The position closely coordinates with the finance and supply chain functions and MEAL and MIS.

Job Requirements

Education:

Master’s degree in social sciences, Public Health or related field.

Work Experience:

Minimum 5 years of working experience with NGOs, INGOs. Experience of working in South Punjab particularly target districts will be preferred. Experience supervising large field teams and managing day to day project implementation.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong project management skills, including work planning, budget tracking, and progress monitoring.
  • Excellent report writing skills in English.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and team supervision skills.
  • Computer skills including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and self-initiative abilities.
  • Willingness to travel frequently to field locations for supervision and monitoring visits

Language Skills – Local languages along with good Urdu speaking and English.

Others
  • Familiarity with the South Punjab districts dynamics including culture, administration, health systems and local development stakeholders will be an advantage
