Job summary

International Rescue Committee in Multan seeks a cleaner for a UNICEF-funded nutrition-focused project. The role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness in facilities, kitchens and restrooms, with daily tasks and occasional emergency cleaning support.

The position reports to the Supply Chain Officer and supports routine cleaning operations for a four-month contract with potential extension. Prior NGO experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily cleaning of rooms, floors, surfaces and fixtures according to standards and schedules.
  • Maintain cleanliness of cleaning supply closets and equipment; request supplies as needed.
  • Clean bathrooms and eating areas daily to ensure hygiene.
  • Empty waste baskets and manage trash disposal as directed.
  • Sweep walkways, stairs, and external areas; remove litter.
  • Clean windows, refrigerators, fans, lighting fixtures and carpets as scheduled.
  • Provide laundry and kitchen support as assigned.
  • Provide emergency or spot-cleaning assistance when needed.
  • Maintain backup water supplies as required.
  • Prepare rooms for meetings and activities as directed.
  • Report maintenance concerns (plumbing, lights, windows, doors, equipment).
  • Participate in training and development activities.

The International Rescue Committee is initiating a short-term nutrition-focused project funded by UNICEF. The initial duration of the project is 4 months with possible further extension. The cleaner will be reporting to the Supply Chain Officer based in Multan. Provide assistance and support in day-to-day cleaning activities. Cleaners’ primary responsibility will be to provide high-quality cleaning support with proper hygienic materials.

Major Responsibilities:
  • On a daily basis, straighten rooms and clean floors/carpets, surfaces and fixtures in assigned facilities to prescribed standards and in keeping with assigned schedules.
  • Maintain the order and cleanliness of cleaning supply closets and cabinets. Request cleaning supplies and equipment, as needed. Maintain cleaning equipment and materials in good and clean condition.
  • Clean bathrooms and eating areas daily to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Empty waste baskets daily. Prepare for scheduled trash pick-up. Remove equipment boxes and shipping containers for storage or disposal, as directed.
  • Sweep walkways, external stairs, and outer areas at least once a day. Pick up and dispose of litter.
  • Clean windows, refrigerators, fans, air-conditioners, and lighting fixtures, as needed or scheduled. Wash carpets, as needed or scheduled.
  • Provide laundry and cooking/kitchen services, as assigned.
  • Provide emergency or spot-cleaning assistance, as needed or requested.
  • Maintain back-up supplies of water, as needed.
  • Prepare rooms for meetings and other activities assigned.
  • Identify and report maintenance concerns, including but not limited to problems with plumbing, light fixtures, windows, doors, and cleaning equipment.
  • Participate in professional training and development activities, as needed or requested.

Education:

Minimum matriculate

Work Experience:

Minimum two (02) years of relevant work experience in an office environment, preferably with an INGO, NGO, or private sector organization.

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:
  • Good health and personal hygiene.
  • Demonstrated cleaning skills.
  • Responsiveness to direction and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently, timely and manage competing priorities.

Previous experience in a similar role with an NGO, INGO, or development sector organization will be an added advantage.

Note: The interviews will be conducted on rolling basis, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.
