Job summary

Digital Chords is seeking a Platform/DevOps Engineer to own production reliability end-to-end, automating deployments, verifying backups and disaster recovery with real exercises, and maintaining uptime with improved observability.

This hands-on role builds and operates systems, not just tickets, and covers CI/CD, runbooks, secrets rotation, IaC (Terraform/OpenTofu), Docker, and PostgreSQL operations across environments, with SOC2/HIPAA-adjacent compliance support.

Qualifications

• Terraform/OpenTofu in production.
• Docker day-to-day operations.
• CI/CD ownership with GitHub Actions.
• Strong PostgreSQL operations: backup/restore and migrations.
• Observability ownership with Grafana/Prometheus/Loki.
• Real BCDR drills and recovery exercises.
• Secrets management and rotation automation.
• Incident response and runbook writing.
• Scripting in Bash, Python, or JS/TS.

Responsibilities

• Automate and harden CI/CD for production releases that are repeatable, reviewable, and low-risk.
• Design and run backup verification and restore exercises on a set cadence; document RTO/RPO results and close gaps.
• Own BCDR: keep business continuity/DR plans current, run tabletop and technical drills, track follow-ups to done.
• Protect production uptime: monitoring, health checks, capacity planning, incident response, and postmortems.
• Keep Grafana dashboards and alerts useful—accurate views of production, less noise, faster debugging.
• Automate secrets management and rotation; remove long-lived credentials from repos and hosts.
• Improve infra-as-code and environment consistency (Terraform/OpenTofu, Docker, cloud resources).
• Support compliance operations (SOC2 / HIPAA-adjacent): evidence, access reviews, audit trails, control remediations.
• Partner with engineering on PostgreSQL operational work across environments (backup/restore, migrations, availability).
