Job summary

DCC Consultants seeks a Medical Billing Specialist to manage payment posting, ERA processing, and denial management in a healthcare setting. The role requires accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and collaboration with insurers and internal teams.

You will handle posting, reconciliation, and reporting while supporting month-end close activities and ensuring timely resolutions for denials and discrepancies. Night shifts in PKT hours with Monday–Friday workdays are included.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years of medical payment posting experience in healthcare.
• Experience with ERA processing and manual payment application.
• Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
• Experience interpreting EOBs and ERAs from Medicare/Medicaid/commercial payers.
• Experience with practice management software (eClinicalWorks).
• Familiarity with different payment models and reimbursement methodologies.
• Experience with denial management and basic appeals processes.
• Ability to handle a high volume of transactions and meet daily productivity targets.

Responsibilities

• Post insurance and patient payments and adjustments into the practice management system.
• Reconcile postings with bank deposits and ERAs daily.
• Identify, analyze, and route denials and underpayments for resolution.
• Post contractual adjustments and write-offs as per policies.
• Resolve patient and insurance credit balances and initiate refunds if needed.
• Process ERAs and manage exceptions or errors.
• Post manual payments from mail, phone or in-person (checks, cards, cash).
• Generate and review payment posting reports and assist month-end close tasks.
• Communicate with insurers, patients, and internal departments on inquiries and discrepancies.
• Adhere to HIPAA, medical billing regulations, and data security policies.
• Utilize billing software and EHR systems for posting and research.
• Proactively identify and resolve posting issues and escalate when needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all posting activities and communications.
