Job summary

READ Foundation in Pakistan seeks three contractors to provide classroom-based coaching and instructional support to teachers and students in foundational literacy and numeracy from ECE onward. You will support Model and Satellite Schools through teacher coaching, demonstration lessons, and ongoing academic follow-up.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field and experience in literacy/numeracy assessment, data-informed instruction, and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular teacher training and coaching on foundational literacy and numeracy.
• Provide classroom-based coaching through observation, feedback, co-teaching, and demonstration lessons.
• Identify learning gaps and remedial interventions for struggling students.
• Prepare and support multi-grade lesson plans with differentiated activities.
• Develop lesson plans, worksheets, activities, and low-cost teaching materials.
• Prepare and analyze EGRA/EGMA baseline, periodic, and end-line assessments.
• Lead demonstration and support classes in Model and Satellite Schools.
• Monitor progress and support accelerated learning through small-group instruction.
• Maintain records of coaching, assessments, and student progress.
• Submit weekly coaching reports and monthly academic reports to the Academic Coordinator.
• Coordinate with Academic Coordinator, Principals, teachers, MEAL staff, and Project Manager.

Job Purpose

Provide specialized classroom-based coaching and instructional support to teachers and students in foundational literacy and numeracy from ECE and above.

Support Model and Satellite Schools through teacher coaching, demonstration lessons, assessment, multigrade lesson planning, and continuous academic follow-up.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular teacher training and coaching on foundational literacy and numeracy, including EGRA and EGMA.
• Provide classroom-based coaching through observation, feedback, co-teaching, and demonstration lessons.
• Support teachers in identifying learning gaps, struggling students, and appropriate remedial interventions.
• Prepare and support practical multigrade lesson plans with differentiated activities for different grade levels.
• Develop/support lesson plans, worksheets, activities, and low-cost teaching-learning materials.
• Prepare, conduct, compile, and analyse baseline, periodic, and end-line EGRA/EGMA assessments.
• Take demonstration and support classes in Model and Satellite Schools alongside respective teachers.
• Monitor student progress and support learning acceleration, small-group instruction, and targeted learning activities.
• Maintain accurate records of coaching, assessments, lesson plans, remedial plans, and student progress.
• Submit weekly assessment/coaching reports and monthly academic reports to the Academic Coordinator.
• Coordinate with the Academic Coordinator, Principals/School Heads, teachers, M&E/MEAL staff, and Project Manager.

Minimum Professional Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Mathematics, English, Early Childhood Education, or a related field; relevant certification/training is an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in foundational literacy and numeracy, teacher coaching, early-grade assessment, or multigrade teaching.
• Practical understanding of classroom-based assessment and use of data for instructional improvement.
• Strong communication, training, reporting, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness and ability to work in remote and low-resource school settings.

Key Performance Expectations

• Minimum two structured coaching/observation sessions per teacher per month, subject to the approved school calendar and operational feasibility.
• Timely and accurate completion of planned assessments and academic reporting.
• Targeted minimum 20% improvement in student literacy and numeracy assessment scores from baseline to end-line, subject to approved methodology.
