Job summary

READ Foundation is seeking a dedicated teacher to deliver quality primary education in a remote READ Foundation school. You will follow the academic calendar and READ Foundation teaching standards while building a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role involves planning lessons, maintaining records, assessing student progress, and participating in trainings to enhance instructional quality. You will support extracurricular activities and adhere to safeguarding protocols.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons for assigned grades and subjects.
• Maintain daily student attendance and accurate classroom records.
• Assess student learning through weekly quizzes, monthly tests, and final examinations.
• Prepare students for final examinations and support result compilation.
• Participate in teacher trainings and professional development activities.
• Maintain classroom discipline and a safe, child-friendly learning environment.
• Report safeguarding concerns to the Principal.
• Support school cleanliness and stock maintenance in coordination with house help/watchman.
• Participate in sports, competitions, and other extracurricular activities.
• Use low-cost/local teaching aids as guided by the Literacy & Numeracy Coach.
• Maintain high teaching standards and demonstrate quality classroom practices.
• Host demonstration lessons for visiting teachers.

Minimum Expectations & Performance Indicators

• Students demonstrate measurable improvement in literacy and numeracy.
• Weekly lesson plans submitted to the Principal.
• Model School teachers: support visits completed twice monthly and properly documented.
• Accountable for student learning outcomes, accurate attendance/assessment records, and classroom safety.
