Qualifications

  • BS in Microbiology from a recognized institution is required.
  • Minimum 3–4 years of practical experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, label, and process clinical specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool, swabs).
  • Prepare, sterilize, and perform quality control on culture media.
  • Inoculate culture plates using aseptic techniques.
  • Identify bacterial colonies including paracolon and other enteric organisms.
  • Perform gram stains and other rapid staining procedures.
  • Identify fungal cultures (yeasts and molds) microscopically.
  • Perform antimicrobial susceptibility testing (Kirby-Bauer disc diffusion).
  • Read and interpret zone diameters and MIC results.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment (incubators, autoclaves, biosafety cabinets).
  • Record daily temperature logs and equipment maintenance records.
  • Follow biosafety level 2 (BSL-2) protocols and use PPE.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste properly.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for CAP and ISO certification.
  • Enter and verify test results in Laboratory Information System (LIS).
  • Report critical results immediately to the requesting physician.
  • Assist in internal and external audits.
  • Monitor inventory and request supplies when needed.

The role requires technical expertise in bacterial and fungal culture techniques, colony interpretation, and laboratory safety protocols.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Receive, label, and process clinical specimens (blood, urine, sputum, stool, swabs)

Qualifications
  • BS in Microbiology from a recognized institution. (M.Phil in Microbiology or related field will be preferred.)
  • Minimum 3–4 years of practical experience in a clinical microbiology laboratory.
Hands-on experience in
  • Media preparation and quality control.
  • Bacterial culture cleaning and subculturing.
  • Identification and interpretation of paracolon and other enteric organisms.
  • Fungal culture techniques (including isolation and identification of common fungi).
  • Proven exposure to CAP and ISO certification processes (internal audits, documentation, proficiency testing, or quality assurance).
Additional Information

Certification in CAP (College of American Pathologists) and ISO standards is highly desirable.
