Job summary

Raqami Bank seeks a Junior Data Scientist in its Data Science Department to support development of machine learning, credit risk modelling, and AI solutions by preparing reliable data and building models. You will analyze data, develop and validate models under guidance, create dashboards in Power BI, and communicate findings to business stakeholders while maintaining clean code and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of relevant professional experience in data science, analytics, machine learning, credit risk modelling, or credit scoring may be considered.
• Practical exposure to developing, validating, or monitoring credit risk models or scorecards is preferred.

Job Title: Junior Data Scientist

Job Overview

To support the development of machine learning, automation, credit risk modelling, credit scoring, and AI solutions by preparing reliable data, conducting analysis, building and validating fit-for-purpose models, scorecards, and scripts, and translating results into practical business insights that improve risk-based decision-making and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business, customer, and operational data to identify patterns, trends, exceptions, and actionable insights.
• Clean, transform, combine, and validate structured data from approved sources using Python, SQL, and Excel.
• Assist in developing, testing, and improving supervised machine learning models under senior team guidance.
• Support the development, validation, monitoring, and improvement of credit risk models and credit scoring solutions, including data preparation, feature analysis, scorecard development, performance testing, and documentation under senior guidance.
• Develop automation scripts, Power Automate flows, and simple bots that reduce repetitive manual work.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, and performance tracking views for business and technical stakeholders.
• Support proof-of-concepts involving large language models and emerging AI capabilities, subject to data privacy, security, and governance controls.
• Present findings in clear business language and collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements and validate outcomes.
• Maintain organized code, working papers, assumptions, data definitions, model results, and handover documentation.

Experience & Qualification Required

• Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Candidates with 3+ years of relevant professional experience in data science, analytics, machine learning, credit risk modelling, or credit scoring may be considered.
• Practical exposure to developing, validating, or monitoring credit risk models or scorecards is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

• Python programming using Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn; SQL for querying and combining data; strong Microsoft Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables, and charts; understanding of supervised machine learning, statistics, model evaluation, data cleaning, transformation, and validation; working knowledge of credit risk modelling and credit scoring concepts, including scorecard development, feature selection, discriminatory power, calibration, stability analysis, validation, and performance monitoring; ability to design simple automation flows or bots using Power Automate; awareness of large language models and current AI trends; and clear written and verbal communication.
• Data visualization tools such as Power BI; business process or operational system data; version control such as Git; and structured documentation of analytical work.
