Job summary

Smart Working is seeking a Founding Engineer, the first in-house engineering hire, to own the platform end-to-end across frontend, backend and infrastructure. You will scale and evolve the AI-native Professional Services Automation platform while delivering customer-facing features with significant ownership and autonomy as the company scales.

Qualifications

• 5+ years software engineering experience, startup/high-ownership preferred.
• 5+ years senior full-stack with React/TypeScript frontend and Node/Postgres backend.
• 4+ years solo ownership of cloud deployment, releases, CI/CD.
• 3+ years with Postgres/Supabase or equivalent with security features.
• 1-2+ years using AI-assisted/agentic coding tools in production.
• Strong method to verify AI output; comfortable solo ownership.

Responsibilities

• Own product end-to-end as a solo generalist across frontend, backend, infra.
• Keep platform healthy; manage incidents and safe releases.
• Use AI coding tools while verifying correctness and security.
• Drive ISO27001 and SOC 2 readiness by Apr 2027.
• Improve AI assistant and orchestration features.
• Collaborate with founders amid ambiguity.
