Qualifications

Responsibilities

Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of complex contracts with customers, suppliers, and partners.
Develop strategies for claims, variations, and amendments throughout the project lifecycle.
Analyze contract performance and advise project management and finance teams.
Act as SME on contractual matters guiding project teams.
Perform risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
Ensure compliance with governance, legal standards, and regulations; maintain contract database.

A Snapshot of Your Day

This position is an addition to the Project Tendering and Execution team to ensure business continuity. The role is critical for providing specialized contractual resources to support project execution within the Grid Technologies Substation business in Pakistan, with a primary focus on managing the commercial opportunities and risks inherent in project contracts. To address this need, the role is structured around three core areas: strategic contract and claim management, comprehensive risk mitigation and compliance, and cross-functional stakeholder collaboration.

This framework ensures the role not only administers contracts but also actively contributes to the financial and operational success of large-scale projects. Given the focus on complex project environments, the ideal candidate will be a recognized subject matter expert with extensive experience in contract management for large-scale engineering or construction projects. A strong background in negotiation, risk analysis, and legal compliance, supported by relevant advanced education, is essential for success in this specialist professional role.

How You’ll Make An Impact

Lead the drafting, review, and negotiation of complex project contracts with customers, suppliers, and partners to secure favorable commercial and legal terms.
Develop and execute strategies for managing contract claims, variations, and amendments throughout the project lifecycle to protect company interests and maximize financial outcomes.
Analyze contract performance to identify and capitalize on commercial opportunities, providing expert advice to project management and business controlling teams.
Serve as the subject matter expert on all contractual matters, guiding project teams through complex contractual landscapes.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of contractual terms, proposing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimize financial and operational exposure.
Ensure all contractual activities and documentation strictly adhere to corporate governance policies, legal standards, and relevant regulations. Establish and maintain a systematic contract database and documentation process to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and audit readiness.
Act as the primary interface between project teams, the legal department, and finance for all contract-related issues, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
Prepare and present clear, concise reports on contract status, key risks, and commercial performance to senior management. Coach and provide guidance to junior professionals or project staff on contract management principles and best practices.

What You Bring

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Engineering, Business Administration, Construction or a related field. Other relevant certifications relating to contract and claim management would be preferred
Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) as a Contract Manager, preferably within the energy, construction, or large-scale project execution industry.
Proven track record as a subject matter expert managing complex contracts and claims with limited oversight.
Expertise in legal and contractual, including skills in contract negotiation, contract preparation, contract compliance, legal risk assessment, and subcontracting.
With strong analytical and strategic abilities, including the adoption of AI trends, risk management expertise, analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a proactive mindset towards AI and digitalization initiatives.
Strong behavioral and communication skills, including negotiation and influencing abilities, as well as a strong sense of accountability.
