Job summary

Contour Software is seeking an experienced Cloud Operations Engineer to support production cloud applications and optimize cloud infrastructure for reliability, scalability, and performance. You will design, implement, and manage customer-facing cloud environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate operations.

You will build IaC with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, implement CI/CD pipelines, and ensure high availability while maintaining security and cost-efficiency

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Monitor client-facing environments and escalate performance, security, or availability issues.
• Design and manage highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure across multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Manage cloud resources including VMs, containers, databases, networking, and storage for optimal performance.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and ensure reliable releases.
• Automate routine operational tasks such as monitoring, scaling, and backups.
• Set up monitoring, logging, and alerting to proactively identify issues.
• Handle incident response, root cause analysis, and remediation to minimize downtime.
• Continuously optimize for cost-effectiveness and compliance with standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
• Provide 24/7 support for cloud applications and maintain a knowledge base.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to automate and streamline our operations, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the overall architecture and strategy of our cloud infrastructure. You will need to be self-motivated, organized, and have exceptional interpersonal skills to be successful in this position. **Duties and Responsibilities**-Monitor client-facing environments and promptly escalate any performance, security, or availability issues to the proper internal resources.-Design and manage highly available, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure across multi-cloud environments (eg. AWS, Azure, GCP).-Design and implement cloud-based solutions that align with best practices for performance, security, including identity and access management (IAM) and cost-efficiency.-Manage cloud resources, including virtual machines, containers, databases, networking, and storage, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.-Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources.-Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines to streamline the deployment process, ensuring fast and reliable application releases.-Automate routine operational tasks, such as monitoring, scaling, and backups, to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.-Set up comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they impact users. -Manage incident response efforts, including root cause analysis and remediation, to minimize downtime and ensure a stable environment.-Continuously optimize cloud infrastructure for cost-effectiveness and performance, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks.-Ensure the cloud environment complies with industry standards and regulations (eg. ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR) through the implementation of security controls and audits.-Stay up to date with the latest cloud technologies and trends and evaluate their applicability to our environment.-Provide 24/7 support for cloud applications, ensuring high availability and performance.-Document support processes and maintain a knowledge base for common issues and solutions. **Qualifications and Experience**-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.-3-4 years of experience in cloud operations, cloud engineering, DevOps, or a similar role, with a focus on managing high availability production cloud environments.-Proven experience with multi-cloud environments, particularly AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.- High degree of self-motivation and initiative; ability to perform independently with minimal supervision.-Expertise in cloud infrastructure management and automation tools (eg. Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).- Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (eg. Docker, Kubernetes).- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (eg. AzureDevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI).-Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools(eg.
