Job summary

Vertexsolutions seeks a WTE Delivery & Engineering Lead to head the Philippines project from inception through commissioning and handover, building a local team around you. This senior role requires deep WTE and engineering credibility, managing EPCs and suppliers, and ensuring schedule, safety and budget targets are met.

The candidate will relocate to the Philippines and drive interfaces with government and grid authorities, delivering a flagship waste-to-energy facility with strong leadership

Qualifications

• 10+ years of WTE or energy-from-waste experience.
• Delivery of at least one full WTE plant through construction and commissioning.
• Experience as director/head of delivery or equivalent leading large teams.

About my client

My client is a leading regional APAC renewables developer with a portfolio across solar, BESS, wind and water. They have just won a bid for a waste-to-energy project in the Philippines and will take it through the full lifecycle themselves: early-stage feasibility studies, development, EPC and then O&M. They are now looking for a WTE expert to lead delivery and engineering.

This is a senior leadership position. You would be the first WTE hire on the ground, with a team built around you.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery and engineering for the WTE project across the full lifecycle: feasibility, development, EPC, commissioning, handover and the transition into O&M.
• Own the technical and commercial management of the EPC contractor and key technology suppliers (grate and furnace, boiler, flue gas treatment, turbine, balance of plant).
• Build and lead the project delivery and engineering team, including recruiting and onboarding senior hires.
• Control programme, budget, risk, quality and HSE across the project.
• Manage interfaces with the government, utility and grid, and local stakeholders and regulators.
• Challenge design and execution decisions technically, working closely with regional leadership and engineering teams.
• Report to senior management on progress, risk and commercial position.

Requirements

• 10+ years’ dedicated experience in waste-to-energy or energy-from-waste, with a thermal WTE track record. Generalist infrastructure or power experience is not enough.
• Proven delivery of at least one full WTE plant through construction and commissioning, as an EPC contractor or on the owner’s side.
• Director, head of delivery or equivalent seniority, leading large multidisciplinary teams and projects in the hundreds of millions.
• Strong engineering credibility across WTE process and technology, not just programme management.
• Experience delivering in Asia or other emerging markets is highly desirable.
• Willingness to relocate to the Philippines.
• Degree in civil, mechanical, process or related engineering.
