Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced VMware Virtualization Engineer responsible for the implementation, configuration, administration, maintenance, migration, and troubleshooting of enterprise VMware virtualization environments.
The successful candidate must have strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere 7.x and 8.x, including VMware ESXi, vCenter Server, vSphere clusters, HA, DRS, vMotion, networking, storage, lifecycle management, and virtual machine migration.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain VMware vSphere 7.x and 8.x environments.
- Deploy and configure VMware ESXi hosts and VMware vCenter Server.
- Build and manage VMware clusters, including vSphere HA and DRS.
- Configure and troubleshoot vMotion and Storage vMotion.
- Configure VMware Standard Switches and vSphere Distributed Switches (VDS).
- Configure and manage VMware datastores using enterprise storage technologies such as FC, iSCSI, NFS, SAN, and NAS.
- Perform virtual machine provisioning, cloning, templates, snapshots, VMware Tools management, and resource allocation.
- Perform VM and workload migrations between ESXi hosts, clusters, vCenter environments, and data centers.
- Support V2V and P2V migration activities where required.
- Plan and execute VMware vSphere upgrades, including vCenter and ESXi upgrades from vSphere 7 to vSphere 8.
- Perform ESXi host patching and lifecycle management using vSphere Lifecycle Manager (vLCM).
- Monitor VMware infrastructure capacity, availability, utilization, and performance.
- Troubleshoot VM, ESXi host, vCenter, cluster, storage, and network-related issues.
- Perform root-cause analysis for VMware infrastructure incidents and performance degradation.
- Configure VMware security controls including roles and permissions, RBAC, certificates, and VMware security hardening.
- Coordinate with Server, Storage, Network, Security, Backup, and Application teams during implementation and migration activities.
- Support backup, restore, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions integrated with VMware.
- Maintain VMware infrastructure documentation, configuration records, implementation procedures, migration plans, and as-built documentation.
- Provide technical support during production changes, migration activities, maintenance windows, and critical incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on VMware vSphere administration and implementation experience
