Job summary

Optum is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Administrator to oversee server hardware provisioning, OS deployment, and virtual/physical infrastructure management. You will provide Level 3 VMware and Windows Server support, monitor health, and drive modernization and migrations across data centers.

The role requires hands-on Windows Server and VMware expertise, plus experience with Cisco UCS, OpenView/HP management tools, and automation through PowerShell, Terraform, and Chef.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in IT or related field; equivalent experience accepted.
• 3+ years hands-on Windows Server and infrastructure administration.
• Experience administering enterprise VMware vSphere environments.
• Experience with Cisco UCS infrastructure.
• Solid knowledge of Windows Server 2008–2019, VMware ESX/vCenter.
• Experience with P2V, V2V migrations and data center migrations.
• Familiarity with automation tools (PowerShell, Terraform, Chef).
• Exposure to SAN storage, RAID, backup/recovery solutions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee procurement, installation, and configuration of new server hardware.
• Deploy and configure operating systems for provisioned hardware.
• Provision and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure environments.
• Provide Level 3 support for VMware ESX and Windows Server environments.
• Monitor infrastructure health for stability, availability, and performance.
• Lead infrastructure modernization and migration projects.
• Build, configure, and administer VMware vSphere environments.
• Manage vCenter configurations, host profiles, and Auto Deploy.
• Perform virtualization health checks and optimizations.
• Manage Windows Server environments (2008–2019) and firmware/BIOS updates.
• Configure Cisco UCS, HP DL/BL servers, boot-from-SAN, and HBA (Emulex).
• Manage local and SAN storage, RAID, and backups (Tivoli/Avamar/Veeam).
• Develop PowerShell scripts; contribute to Terraform/Chef automation.
• Support AD, clustering, incident resolution, and on-call rotation.
